Robinson’s News Stand and Restaurant

Robinson's News Stand and Restaurant was a well-known Fredericksburg business operated by James Angelo Robinson and Ruby Gordon Robinson. Located at 1518 Princess Anne Street, the couple opened a newsstand and later expanded it to include a restaurant, creating a welcoming gathering place for local residents. Known for newspapers, magazines, and Mrs. Robinson's home cooking, the business remained a community fixture for decades. Operating during an era of segregation, Robinson's also represented the important role that Black-owned businesses played in serving and strengthening Fredericksburg's African-American community.
