Sunshine Laundry opened in 1928 in a building originally occupied by Laundry de Lux (1913–1916). Located on William Street, it served Fredericksburg residents for decades and became a familiar part of the city's commercial landscape. The business closed in the 1980s, marking the end of a long chapter in downtown Fredericksburg history. Although the original building no longer stands, the site is now part of the University of Mary Washington campus.
